Jack Brown’s Seaplane Base, established in 1963, has been a cornerstone in seaplane pilot training for over six decades. Training Programs

Pilots can earn their Single-Engine Sea (ASES) rating in as little as two days. The comprehensive course includes a course guide, ground school, five hours of dual flight instruction, and aircraft rental for the checkride. The training is conducted in aircraft such as the Piper PA-18 Super Cub, American Legend AL-3, and Cessna 172, each offering unique features to enhance the learning experience.

Fleet

The fleet at Jack Brown’s Seaplane Base includes:

  • American Legend AL-3: A modernized version of the classic Piper J-3 Cub, featuring a roomier cockpit and modern safety features, including a starter, radios, and ADS-B in and out.
  • Piper PA-18 Super Cub: A highly revered two-place bush plane, equipped with flaps, higher payload capacity, more fuel capacity, a Lycoming 160hp engine, and EDO 2000 floats.
  • Cessna 172: A familiar aircraft for many pilots, fitted with EDO 2130 floats and an upgraded 180hp engine, offering great visibility and forgiving flight characteristics.

Additional Offerings

Beyond the ASES rating, Jack Brown’s Seaplane Base provides tailored seaplane training sessions, from 30-minute currency flights to extensive seaplane time-building opportunities. Introductory flights are also available for those looking to experience the thrill of seaplane flying.
